Ratnakumar Sivagnanam

Ratnakumar Sivagnanam brings nearly four decades of hands-on expertise in Airfield Lighting (AFL) systems, making him a highly valuable member of the SALA community.

Active in the AFL industry since 1985, Ratnakumar represents Hardelec, a well-established supplier and contractor specializing in airfield lighting infrastructure. Over the years, he has led and supported numerous projects covering conventional wired AFL as well as modern solar-powered systems — giving him a rare perspective across both legacy and next-generation technologies.

For almost 15 years, Ratnakumar and Hardelec have been directly involved in Solar Airfield Lighting systems, including supply and installation projects in Singapore and equipment supply to Malaysia. Through these deployments, they have developed deep operational knowledge of:

• Solar AGL system architecture and performance

• Installation best practices in real airport environments

• Control and monitoring systems

• Long-term operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance

What sets Ratnakumar apart is not only technical understanding, but real field experience — knowing what works, what fails, and how to keep systems operational in demanding conditions.
