Marc G. Flamme
General Manager
Flamme Aero srl
Marc was selected as a SALA member for his exceptional career spanning research and development, large-scale international airfield lighting projects, regulatory contribution, and entrepreneurial innovation in airport infrastructure.
He began his career as an R&D Engineer within a pioneering airfield lighting company, where he quickly expanded into technical support, project engineering, and international sales leadership, ultimately serving as Sales Manager for Africa. During this period, he led and delivered major civil and military airfield lighting projects across Kuwait, South Africa, Brazil, Jamaica, Libya, and other regions — combining technical execution with commercial and financial responsibility.
A key contributor to industry standards, he:
Led PAPI field testing programs in Europe and the United States
Served as a member of the ICAO Visual Aids Panel, supporting recommendations for inclusion in ICAO Annex 14
Worked directly with FAA and U.S. Air Force during the establishment of a new U.S. subsidiary
After completing an Executive MBA at Solvay Business School (Brussels University), he founded his own enterprise focused on airfield lighting solutions for small and remote aerodromes. His company developed and deployed LED airfield lighting systems across environments ranging from Northern Canada to Southeast Asia, delivering reliable infrastructure in some of the world’s most challenging locations.
Beyond AGL, his expertise extends to broader airport systems including:
Passenger Boarding Bridges (including a €10M turnkey project at Brussels Airport)
Aircraft ground power and pre-conditioned air systems
FOD Management and airside operational infrastructure
He also served as a technical advisor with ICAO’s Technical Cooperation Bureau, supporting airport development projects across Africa and Latin America.
Since 2017, he has been an active member of the ACI Africa Safety and Technical Committee, recently re-elected for the 2026–2028 term, contributing expertise in airport operations, safety management, and risk mitigation.
Through his combined experience in system design, real-world deployment, regulatory frameworks, and operational safety, Marc brings to SALA a rare end-to-end perspective on what makes airfield lighting truly reliable, scalable, and fit for modern aviation — directly supporting SALA’s mission to establish performance-driven solar AGL standards worldwide.
